New Policies/Reminders for this term:

  • If you miss a quiz for an EXCUSED absence-- you have one week to make it up AND you must show me your finished notes to take it.
  • Test Extra Credit is due the DAY OF THE TEST.
  • Test Corrections are due before you take the next test.
  • Book notes MUST include a line of significance for major terms.
    • Some of your book notes need more added to them.
    • I recommend you an hour of reading a night. I will make you a calendar for Nov.
  • Book notes will receive EXTRA CREDIT if they have a substantial piece of SYNTHESIS/APPLICATION at the top of the page. Apply your readings to other geographical regions in the US, other themes, or other time periods. You need more than just a sentence.

Examples for synthesis on notes:
This will get you a half point.
I/A: The aftermaths of wars is interesting. Britain's victory in the Seven Years' War caused Britain to go in debt and created tension between the colonies and Britain. With the sudden debt, increase of taxes was necessary which angered the colonists. This is similar to the tensions caused between the superpowers after the Korean War. Although victories were celebrated, these wars came with similar consequences.
This will get you a full point.
I/A: The Boston massacre keeps reminding me of the various cases throughout the last several years regarding American police officers and individuals who have been killed/shot by them. Each case is different, but in many of them there's still the question and debate over the cause and whether the action was justified. It's sparked riots and mobs in several large cities across the US, generally in areas of high African American population. As before the conflict is between a group who feels discriminated against and short-strawed by the government and the official policing body of that government.
